I'm an Occupational Therapist and I work with lots of people with retained infant reflexes for a variety of reasons. Honestly, after learning so much about it, I'm pretty sure that I dealt with some of the symptoms myself as a child! This book is one that I generally recommend. It helps parents and therapists alike to understand all of the infant reflexes (including a few that aren't often discussed even in medical training!), how it impacts life and limits participation in daily activities, as well as some basic interventions. I have to take 1 star off because this is in no way a "one size fits all" approach and by the end of the book the author has you convinced that buying a specialized low level laser with crystal and her extensive protocol is the best way to treat retained infant reflexes. However when I looked into the research sited on the website, there's a lot of research but none that directly supports the intervention of her specific laser for the use of reflex integration... and of course it isn't exactly an affordable option for most families. I work in a non-profit facility and many of my patients cannot even afford their co-payments much less an additional item like a laser for home use. That being said, I feel pretty confident that the laser is probably effective, but as the solution presented in the book is not readily available to most families, I have to knock it down a bit. It's still by far one of the best resources for reflex integration available direct to consumer without a therapist education required!
